The seminar entitled Artificial Intelligence was held on April 16 2024 by ISTTS in collaboration with Petra 1 Christian High School and the speaker was Dr. Ir. Joan Santoso, S.Kom., M.Kom. This seminar was attended by class XII located at Petra 1 Christian High School, which is precisely in the media room.
This seminar reveals various important aspects of how artificial intelligence (AI) works. One of the main points is that AI learns from data. Data is becoming a valuable asset, and having access to quality data can be the key to success in AI applications. However, collecting sufficient data also requires a large investment, given the costs associated with data collection and processing.
In addition, it is important to pay attention to security and legal aspects in data processing. Personal data security must be prioritized to ensure that information collected and processed by AI is not misused or threatens individual privacy. Therefore, in implementing AI, companies and organizations need to ensure that they comply with applicable regulations and data security standards.
Furthermore, this seminar also confirmed that AI is not only present in the world of education, but has also become an integral part of the gaming industry. In the world of gaming, AI is used to create a more challenging and dynamic gaming experience. AI can set difficulty levels, control the behavior of non-player characters (NPCs), and even create unique scenarios or stories based on player interactions.
Apart from that, advances in AI in games also allow for more realistic simulations and smarter AI in making decisions. This creates a more engaging and immersive game, where players can experience more authentic challenges and experiences. With the integration of AI, games are not just mere entertainment, but also an attractive platform for innovation and technological development.
Apart from that, this seminar also outlines four main categories in artificial intelligence (AI), namely thinking humanly, acting humanly, thinking rationally, and acting rationally. The first category, thinking humanly, relates to AI's ability to think like humans, understand natural language, and solve problems in a way that is similar to how humans think.
Meanwhile, acting humanly focuses on AI's ability to carry out tasks or activities that are usually carried out by humans, such as voice or facial recognition, as well as social interaction. On the other hand, thinking rationally refers to AI's ability to think logically and make decisions based on existing information, without having to imitate human thinking. Finally, acting rationally emphasizes AI's ability to behave in an optimal way to achieve certain goals, based on information that has been properly analyzed.
Apart from the four categories of AI mentioned previously, this seminar also identified four different types of AI, namely reactive machines, limited memory machines, theory of mind, and self-awareness.
Next, the seminar continues with a demonstration of some practical applications of artificial intelligence. One of them is generative AI developed by Gemini, which is capable of creating new content such as images, text or even music based on existing data. Another demonstration is Wolfram Alpha's ability to answer mathematical questions quickly and accurately, utilizing its extensive mathematical knowledge base.
Apart from that, seminar participants were also introduced to suno.com, a platform that allows users to easily create their own music using AI technology. With these various application examples, seminar participants can see firsthand how AI can be applied in various fields and create innovative solutions to various challenges. This is clear evidence of the great potential that artificial intelligence has in helping humans in various aspects of life.
Then, this seminar closed with a reflection on the important role of artificial intelligence in the transformation of industry and society. Participants were reminded of the importance of continuously learning and adapting to the rapid development of AI technology, as well as how this technology can be effectively integrated in various sectors to create added value. Additionally, emphasis is placed on ethics and responsibility in the use of AI, ensuring that technological innovations are used for the common good and support sustainable progress.
